Every Autumn, just outside Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, there takes place the Classic Jazz Party. Musicians who are specialists in Classic styles of Jazz come from all over the world. LAKE Records persuaded six musicians to stay on after the event and record a CD based on the legendary cornetist from the 1920s, Bix Beiderbecke. Rather than make a CD rehashing Beiderbecke's greatest recordings it was decided to give it an interesting slant and base it around tunes Beiderbecke was known to have played, but never recorded. The result is 6 top notch players from four different countries turning in some first rate recordings providing another great CD to add to LAKE's Vintage Recording Project series.
