After more than 15 years of touring in Spain, Ronald Baker and the Catalan Collective finally found the missing link to their project: Blau Records. Thanks to Fernando Marco, I was finally able to bring this project to life.
Four friends in a room, in one day, recorded this album with the desire to convey good vibes, just like they do in concert. Each tune was chosen as a showcase of the group's love of swing, blues, and Latin styles. With this exceptional rhythm section, tunes like "Tangerine" and "Misty" put both the trumpet and vocals in the spotlight, and tunes like "One Note Samba" and "Samba" don't sway to Latin rhythms. Ronald also chose to play and sing his distinctive blues on this album, which reminds us of the origins of jazz. And last but not least, the exquisite trumpeter has been recognized throughout his career for his sentimental ballad interpretations. Some say crooner, but we also hear the balladeer on the trumpet. Either way, it's all about swing.
