Claire Huangci’s album Piano Heroines is a heartfelt celebration of four remarkable female composers — Fanny Hensel, Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, and Florence Price — whose voices persisted through extraordinary adversity. The album journeys through Hensel’s intimate Capriccio in B Minor and vivid seasonal sketches from Das Jahr, Beach’s spirited Fantasia Fugata and tender Cradle Song of the Lonely Mother, Clara Wieck’s youthful brilliance in her Piano Concerto in A Minor, and Florence Price’s deeply expressive Fantasie Nègre and lyrical miniatures. Together, these works paint a portrait of women who composed against the grain of their times — and triumphed.
