=1987 Lp Feat. Chet Atkins (G) & Jeff Porcaro (Dr)=

Willy Deville’s Miracle was released in 1987. Being his first solo solo venture, it gave him the opportunity to collaborate with other artists, both in the studio and on stage. This album was produced and co written by Mark Knopfler (Spanich Jack) and included guitar parts by himself as well as legend Chet Atkins plus drums by Jeff Porcaro. You can clearly hear DeVille’s new sound being influenced by Dire Straits and also Van Morrison (Could You Would You). Apparently it was Knopfler’s wife that came up with the idea to match Willy’s voice and Mark’s guitar as it turned out to be a match made in heaven. Storybook (the theme song for R.Reiner’s movie The Princess Bride) was nominated for an Academy Award, and though the was the same year as Dirty Dancing came out, guess who won! Several more tracks were to be used in films, ie. It’s So Easy in Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse: Death Proof. All in all Miracle is one of the most solid and versatile albums DeVilles ever made; Country meets Folk meets Rock meets Pop that still sound great together. Simply a Classic you shouldn”t miss out on!
