The Kinks

The Kinks patří k základním pilířům britského rocku 60. let. Se svými syrovými kytarovými rify a břitkými společensko-satirickými texty Raye Daviese ovlivnili vznik hard rocku, punku i britpopu.

Londýnská skupina The Kinks v čele s bratry Rayem a Davem Daviesovými vstoupila do dějin v roce 1964 převratným hitem You Really Got Me, jehož zkreslený kytarový riff položil základy hard rocku. Následovala řada koncepčních a společensky reflexivních alb jako Face to Face, Something Else by The Kinks, The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society či kultovní singl Lola, které dodnes udivují britským humorem a geniálním písničkářstvím.
