Narodila se 25. března 1942 v Memphisu, Tennessee, a zemřela 16. srpna 2018 v Detroitu, Michigan. Její hity, jako "Respect", "Natural Woman" a "I Say a Little Prayer", se staly ikonickými hymnami soulu a R&B. Její hudba spojovala gospel, R&B, soul a pop, a její interpretace písní byla vždy plná emocí a vášně.
CO: Období tvorby Arethy Franklin v letech 1970 až 1974 bylo značně významné a úspěšné v její kariéře. Během těchto let nahrála několik klíčových alb a hitů, které posílily její pozici jako "Queen of Soul".
